Helms College holds open house Jan. 5 at Macon and Augusta campuses

The New Year comes with new aspirations for a fresh start towards success. 2017 is just around the corner, and there is no better time than now to re-evaluate your life and career goals. Whether you are a student with continuing education goals or thinking about a career change, now is the perfect time to kick-start your new career and train for a rewarding hospitality or health services career.

The Helms College campuses in Macon and Augusta are currently enrolling for winter quarter. There is no time like the present to begin your journey toward success. Our curriculum offers training for careers in the hospitality field as well as training for a career in health services.

First quarter students at Helms CollegeThe Helms College School of Hospitality Associate Degree and Diploma programs prepare graduates for executive chef, sous chef, and restaurant manager positions. All Helms College culinary courses are taught by professional, industry-experienced chefs in a hands-on setting that allows the students to learn the best practices directly from accomplished chefs. The program emphasizes technical and theoretical knowledge; practical applications of cooking, baking, and serving; and management skills needed for success in the food service industry. Courses also include fundamental business skills such as cost control and supervising food service personnel.

Helms College’s School of Health Services curriculum offers training for Multi-Skilled Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician and Medical Administrative Assistant. Upon completion of any of these certificate-level programs, students will have a wide range of entry-level skills to serve in various allied health settings. They will also have the ability to gain specialized certification for positions in a variety of health-care facilities.


The faculty and staff of Helms College’s Polly Long Denton School of Hospitality in Macon and the School of Hospitality and School of Health Services in Augusta invite you to tour the campuses and explore future career opportunities during our open house Thursday, January 5th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Those who attend the open house can tour our state-of-the-art campuses and learn about the wealth of opportunities in career education offered at Helms College. Staff will be on hand to answer all of your questions about school programs, scholarships and financial aid options to help you get started on the path to your new career.

If a career in hospitality or health sciences sounds like the right fit for you we encourage you to attend open house. Prospective students and their families are invited to tour the campuses, meet instructors, and talk to admissions and financial aid counselors for information about enrollment. Refreshments will be provided, and the Helms College computer lab will be available for prospective students who need assistance in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

You’ll be surprised by how much you can accomplish in just one year! Make a New Year’s resolution to further your education and career, and put yourself on the path to getting the job you’ve always wanted. Commit yourself to achieving success in 2017!
