Entertaining is a rite of spring! From hosting an outdoor dinner party, or an al’fresco table for two by the pool — tis the season to enjoy good food, family and friends, indoors or out. With this in mind, wouldn’t it be amazing to learn how to prepare an entree that is sure to impress?
The upcoming Saturday Chef class at the Augusta campus of Helms College will focus on cake decorating. Learning how to decorate a cake will ensure all your celebrations will find you cake-ready, whether it is for a loved one’s birthday, a holiday, or even a wedding cake!
Helms College has added an exciting new menu of cooking classes for residents of the CSRA. We invite you to enroll in one or more of our hands-on community cooking classes, taught by professional chefs in the Helms College culinary labs. Each class explores a specific genre of cooking and is built not only to inform, but also to entertain as you will be given the chance to enjoy your culinary creations.
- May 21: Cake Decorating — Ever wanted to learn classic and simple cake decorating? Spend a Saturday learning piping techniques and how to use fondant and buttercream to prepare a work of art. The class will be taught by one of the Helms College professional pastry chefs and costs just $75 per person.
Each of our community classes focuses on different areas of cooking, giving you the skills necessary to please everyone from the weekend gourmet chef to those individuals considering training for a culinary career. Helms College Saturday Chef classes are open to the public and class sizes are limited to keep student-to-instructor ratios small, so be sure to register early. It’s a fun afternoon that would be great with a friend or your significant other! We promise it will be an entertaining and tasty event for those eager to learn new culinary skills.
Classes run from 10am-12:30pm, and topics will vary each month and will include:
